So I was buying a gift the other day at a bookstore and as I passed that shelf of "idiots guides" to just about everything, there sat a massive wall of literally hundreds of other "self help" books. So, I looked through a few, some were clever, some smart, most had points (although who couldn't make a point or two if you had 500 pages to do it in?) Here are a few thoughts on the subject in much less than 500 pages!
Brian Tracy said it best "Success is probability" what this means is that the more we do, the more people we meet, the more things we learn the more likely it then becomes for us to be in the right place, at the right time, doing the right things that open the doors for what we want.
If you want more things to "go your way" the most important two words to remember are balance and consistency.
Everyday you should do something for your body, your mind and your business! There are no time constraints, no specific tasks (that's up to you) just be consistent and give it a little time. I know, let me guess you don't have time? Well, start with the little choices that collectively add up! Take the stairs instead of the elevator, call a recent contact back just to say a quick hello, send one hand written card a week to people you meet or already know. Even if you don't have time to read a book or learn a new skill? Get the cliff notes! By going to the bookstore and buying one of those "idiots guides" to whatever it is you want to do. Hey, some are not half bad :)
So I admit, my self help is not as articulate or creative as most (also not 500 pages) but since when has success been about complexity? It's not hard to figure out what makes people successful, it really isn't even difficult to get a taste of success yourself. What is though is becoming sustainable in it. Balance, consistency, body, mind and business...simple...but tough!
